3 injured as police open fire on locals in tense Bardibas

Janakpurdham, November 24

Three locals have been critically injured when police opened fire on them during a demonstration in Bardibas of Mahottari district in southeastern Nepal on Tuesday.

Enraged locals have been demonstrating demanding action against the culprit after a six-year-old girl was found dead in the city last night. The city has turned tense throughout the day due to the protest today.

After locals obstructed the East-West Highway during the protest, the law enforcers had resorted to firing in their bid to reopen the highway.

Two of the injured have been identified as Shyam Karki and Sanjaya Neupane whereas the third person is yet to be identified. Of them, two have been airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Despite the firing, locals have not stopped road obstruction.
