Former minister arrested at Kathmandu gambling den

Kathmandu, November 1

A former state minister has been arrested at a gambling den in Swayambhu of Kathmandu.

SSP Shyam Lal Gyawali, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu, says a police team from the Metropolitan Police Circle in Swayambhu arrested 10 recently and one of them is three-time state minister Khobhari Raya.

Police also confiscated Rs 153,000 in cash from the gambling den.

The controversial Raya was a leader of the Sadbhawana Party. In 2017, however, he joined the then CPN-Maoist Centre but is not active in politics since then.
