Govt forms task force to study FDI-related legal hurdles

The government has formed a task force to study various legal issues that have been hindering the flow of foreign direct investment in the country and suggestion solutions.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies commissioned the team led by Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Regmi, who is also the spokesperson of the ministry.

Regmi says the task force has already begun a study about the issue, adding, “We have also publicly sought stakeholders’ opinions.”

According to Regmi, his team will review around one dozen acts and other legal documents to find out problems and suggestion their solutions.

Stakeholders have long been complaining about legal issues related to the withdrawal of the capital, visa recommendation, investment in existing enterprises, patent design and trademark that might have blocked the flow of foreign direct investment.
