Nepal Covid-19 tally: 884 new cases in 24 hours, 186 in Kathmandu valley

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 37,340 Saturday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 884 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 155 are from the Kathmandu district alone. There are 186 new cases in the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 11,516 swab samples were tested. So far, 669,626 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far 20,555 people have achieved recovery whereas 207 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 313 people have been discharged whereas 12 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 55 per cent.

The other 16,578 cases are active currently. Of them, 10,145 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 6,445 are in home isolation. Of those hospitalised, 175 are in intensive care units, and 22 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Dhanusha, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Mustang and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 8,035 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
