Oli skips inviting some ‘Maoist’ ministers for consultation

KP Sharma Oli

Kathmandu, July 1

Apparently in a difficult position in the party after a majority of the standing committee members demanded his resignation from the positions of the prime minister and party chairman, KP Sharma Oli consulted his cabinet colleagues on Wednesday.

However, he tactfully skipped inviting a few ministers representing the former CPN-Maoist Centre party as they are critical of him of late.

Barsha Man Pun, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Shakti Basnet, and Bina Magar were not invited. Though representing the former Maoist party, Ram Bahadur Thapa and Lekh Raj Bhatta were invited to the meeting at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar this morning as they are quite sympathetic about the government’s performance in the recent days.

Besides the ministers, some standing committee members close to him were also invited.

Oli had consulted President Bidya Devi Bhandari also, twice on Tuesday.
