Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Hridayesh Tripathi, says the federal government will send secretaries to all ministries of provincial governments once the new staff adjustment law comes into operation.

During a discussion held in the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee in Parliament regarding the Federal Civil Service Bill on Tuesday, the minister said, “The government’s view is clear that the main secretary and other ministerial secretaries will belong to the federal civil service.”

Earlier, reportedly, Tripathi had argued that the federal government can send the main secretary, but the ministerial secretaries should be appointed by the provincial governments, and he was at odds with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Due to the same conflict, the bill has been stalled in the committee for the past few months.

Meanwhile, the minister clarified the provincial governments would be allowed to mobilise chief administrative officers of the local units.
