Nepal Covid-19 tally crosses 1,000; new total is 1,042

The Ministry of Health and Population on Thursday says the country’s Covid-19 tally has crossed the 1,000.

As of 2:20 pm today, 1,042 people have been confirmed of infection in the country, the ministry’s spokesperson Bikas Devkota informed in his daily press briefing in Kathmandu this afternoon.

According to him, 156 new cases have been confirmed in various labs of the country since the latest update on Wednesday afternoon. There were 886 confirmed cases as of 4:15 pm yesterday.

Here is the province-wise distribution of the infected cases:

  • Province 1: 129
  • Province 2: 415
  • Bagmati: 44
  • Gandaki: 17
  • Province 5: 369
  • Karnali: 47
  • Sudurpaschim: 21

Of these cases, 190 have achieved recovery, according to the official.

Fifth death reported

Meanwhile, Devkota confirmed that the country recorded the fifth death related to Covid-19 on Wednesday. A man of Lalitpur in Kathmandu Valley had died last night at local KIST Hospital, and he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

His infection test report was published after his death.
