Kathmandu, March 31
The constitutional human rights watchdog, National Human Rights Commission, on Tuesday decided to return Rs 2 million from the annual budget allocated to it by the government for this fiscal year ending mid-July.
The commission says it will not spend any money except regular administrative costs in its bid to save the money for controlling the Covid-19 crisis in Nepal. Hence, the money has been returned to the government and the government has been told to utilise the money in prevention and control of the pandemic, the commission states.
The commission says it has put off all other activities scheduled for this fiscal year except the essential administrative works.
Meanwhile, the commission has urged the public to obey rules of the lockdown as it was introduced to save them from the infection.
