Kathmandu, March 31
The ward 2 committee of Gosainkunda rural municipality in Rasuwa district, where lies the Rasuwagadhi border point connecting Nepal with China, has objected to the central government’s decision to reopen the border point that was closed with the outbreak of coronavirus in China in January.
Citing that China has significantly controlled the outbreak, the government had decided to open the border for trade activities while maintaining necessary precautions.
But, the ward 2 chairperson Dawa Tindup Tamang wrote a letter to the District Administration Office on Monday and urged the federal government to withdraw the decision, claiming the opening would pose a risk of coronavirus infection to the residents of the village. Tamang says he will not late any vehicle pass the border via the jurisdiction of his ward committee.
The leader is of the view that the decision violates the citizens’ right to a peaceful life.
