Kathmandu, March 27

Controversial businessman Durga Prasain has announced that he is ready to hand over his hospital in Birtamod of Jhapa district in eastern Nepal for the necessary treatment of Covid-19 patients.

Prasain runs the B&C Hospital in the far-eastern city. “We have 100 ICU beds, 25 ventilators, and around 900 health workers including 105 doctors,” he says, “Our doctors are ready to work for the country provided the government gives them necessary kits and protective gear.”

He says the hospital will pay its staff, but the government can mobilise them and use the hospital premises as long as necessary.

“I have already forwarded my proposal to the health minister.”
