964 foreigners stranded in various parts of Nepal during lockdown rescued

The government says it has rescued 964 foreigners who were stranded in various parts of the country during the lockdown.

Nepal Tourism Board informs that the foreigners, most of whom were trekking, were rescued on Friday and Saturday. Many of them were already evacuated from Nepal by their respective countries.

As many as 480 foreigners were brought to Kathmandu from Pokhara and 205 from Lukla, according to the board. Likewise, 177 were rescued from Jomsom, 60 from Annapurna region and 26 from Manaslu trekking circuit. Five tourists returned Kathmandu from Gorkha.

Meanwhile, the Nepalis guides, porters and other assistants accompanying them are also being rescued.
