New Indian envoy lands in Kathmandu, to assume office later this week

Kathmandu, March 1

Newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, landed in Kathmandu on Sunday morning to take over his new role. Kwatra will assume his office later this week after presenting his credentials to President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

Kwatra will succeed Manjeev Singh Puri, who completed his three-year term in Kathmandu in December last year. Kwatra was working as the Indian Ambassador to France since August 2017.

Kwatra has 32 years of experience in the Indian Foreign Service. He was stationed at the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu between 2006 and 2010 as the head of  Trade, Economy and Finance Bureau. He had also served as Counsellor and later as the Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy of India, Beijing, China earlier.

He has a master’s in business administration and MPhil in finance.
