Remanded Astha Raut hospitalised

Police take singer Astha Raut to the Kathmandu District Police Office for a hearing on an indecent behaviour case, in Kathmandu, on Monday, January 27, 2020.

Kathmandu, January 28

Singer Astha Raut, who was remanded in police custody for four days by the Kathmandu District Administration Office on Monday, has been hospitalised, according to police. It has been learned that Raut suffered hypertension from the last evening, hence she was rushed to the Blue Cross Hospital in Tripureshwar.

SSP Uttam Raj Subedi, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, confirms her hospitalisation.

Earlier on Monday morning, Raut, accused of ‘indecent behaviour’ with a policewoman at the Tribhuvan International Airport on January 15, had ‘surrendered’ to police. Police were given a warrant for her arrest but she was out of the country.

Meanwhile, many social media users have criticised the police for her arrest arguing her offence was not much severe.
