Kathmandu, January 31
Nepal Police SSP Saurabh Rana has been suspended after a woman alleged him of sexual abuse. The Ministry of Home Affairs made the decision on Thursday, confirms its spokesperson Kedar Nath Sharma.
The ministry has directed Nepal Police to investigate the charge.
The alleged victim, a resident of Dharan in Sunsari district, had filed a complaint against him in November last year. She had also met Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai among other officials, demanding action against the policeman.
Rana, who was posted the Federal Police Unit in Dharan, has been denying the charge.
