Kathmandu, December 30
Sunsari District Court on Monday ordered police to release rape accused Krishna Bahadur Giri, popularly known as spiritual guru Siddhababa.
Giri, who has been accused of raping one of his female followers was arrested in the ICU of Birat Nursing Home and produced before the court on December 2. The court had remanded him to four days in custody for the first time and then extended the remand by seven days.
A female follower had registered a rape complaint against Giri with Sunsari DPO saying she was called to his ashram and raped on October 21. The guru was admitted to Birat Nursing Home on November 28.
A bench of Judge Radha Krishna Uprety ordered Giri released after he posted a bail of Rs 300,000.
