Oli, Modi exchange New Year greetings, Indian PM invited to visit Nepal

Kathmandu, January 1

The Prime Ministers of Nepal and India have exchange New Year greetings on the first day of 2020. During the conversation, Prime Minister Oli invited his Indian counterpart Modi to visit Nepal.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Oli said, “This morning I had telephone conversation with @PMOIndia Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modiji. We exchanged new year’s greetings and best wishes. We shared that the year 2019 proved to be successful in elevating bilateral ties to new height.”

Oli added that he has invited Modi again to visit Nepal. According to Oli, during the conversation, the two leaders took stock of the ties between the two countries in 2019 and agreed to take relations to a new height in the year to come. Prime Minister Oli did not mention whether the border dispute with India figured during the conversation. Although Nepal has invited India to settle the issue of Limpiyadhura and Kalapani through dialogue, India is yet to respond concretely.
