Explosive planted at Rautahat municipal office defused by army

An unidentified gang plant an improvised explosive device at the Ishnath municipality office in Rautahat district on Wednesday morning. A team of Nepal Army prevented it from going off as they defused it on time.

The gang had kept the explosive in a bag and locals had noticed it at around 9:15 am today. It was connected to a mobile phone. After being informed by the locals, the District Police Office had immediately sent a team to the site.

As the device was connected to the phone, the DPO asked telecom authorities to shut down the mobile network in the district before calling a disposal team from Indra Box Batallion of Nepal Army, according to DSP Nabin Karki, the spokesperson at the DPO.

It took around two hours to defuse the explosive.
