President Bhandari visits TUTH, meets PM Oli

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday went to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital to take stock of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s health. She met PM Oli and asked him about how he was feeling, informed the PM’s press advisor Surya Thapa. Before returning to her residence, President Bhandari wished PM Oli good health, said Thapa.

Nepal Airlines stops Osaka flights, says didn’t want to fly to Narita either

Nepal Airlines Corporation has stopped it flights to Osaka three months after initiating the flights. The decision comes after it failed to properly operate flights to the Japanese city. Officials say that the flight to the Japanese city was never full.

Many have argued that NAC should never have flown to Osaka. They believe that NAC should have flown to Narita, a city which is close to the capital Tokyo, instead.

However, Onlinekhabar has found a letter written to the Civil Aviation Bureau, Japan which states that NAC said it did not want to fly to Narita either.

But oddly, NAC now has decided to stop flying to Osaka and is now planning to fly to Narita.

SAG Volleyball: Nepali Woman lose to India

After an impressing straight sets win over Bangladesh on Wednesday, Nepal national women’s volleyball team suffered a disappointing 3-0 at the hands of contender India in volleyball at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) on Thursday. Nepali women lost to India 26-24, 25-12 and 25-16.

SAG security committee says games will go ahead smoothly

South Asian Games’ (SAG) security committee on Thursday provided a detailed security plan for the upcoming games being held in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur.

SAG committee led by IGP Sarbendra Khanal is set to introduce an odd-even rule for vehicular movement, one-ways, escorting, special task forces, command posts, among others to prioritise the security during the Games, which will be held from December 1 to 10.

He added that players will be escorted adeptly to make sure they reach the venues safe, sound and, most importantly, on time. Security will be using bikes in case of emergency. Flanks will be cleared for congestion-free passages. Police will sterilize the area. CCTV surveillance and vigilance will be carried out for a smooth operation. All security elements will be covered. Over a 100,000 security personnel will be deployed during the games.

Govt working on new Land Bill, plans to integrate Guthi Bill into it

The government has given the go-ahead to formulate an integrated land bill. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota said a recent cabinet meeting decided to that effect. Minister Baskota said the bill was necessary to become self-reliant by increasing production through proper utilisation of land, adding the ‘disputed’ Guthi Bill will also be integrated into the new bill.

By-election preparations in Kaski complete

Preparation for the by-election to be held in Kaski – 2 is complete, say officials. Voting for the by-election is taking place on November 30. Employees with ballot boxes and the election materials and security personnel have been assigned at all the 82 polling centres in the constituency, informed chief of the District Election Office, Mahendra Raj Subedi.
