39 injured after balcony collapses in school

Thirty-nine children were injured after a balcony collapsed in Bidya Kunja English Boarding School on Wednesday. The balcony collapsed while the children were watching a football match taking place in the school. All the children who were standing on the balcony fell on the ground.

The children were rushed to Green City Hospital after the incident. One of the children is believed to be in a serious condition and is being treated in an ICU.

Some children have broken hands, while some have broken legs. Many have bruises on their faces. Many are being kept at the hospital while some have been discharged. The school has said it will bear the responsibility of treating the students. Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Office Inspector Bal Narsingh Rana has said police are investigating the incident.

Sajha Party nominates Rajani KC to contest Kaski – 2 by-polls

Sajha Party has nominated central committee member Rajani KC to contest the upcoming by-elections for the vacant seat of House of Representatives from Kaski – 2.

The decision was made at the party’s central committee meeting held in Pokhara on Tuesday and Wednesday. KC joined Sajha Party on September 14. She was formerly with the Nepali Congress. KC was also a deputy administrator at Pokhara University.

Kaski-2 has remained vacant following the demise of the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari, who died in a helicopter crash in Taplejung, on February 27 earlier this year.

One dead, two injured near Annapurna Base Camp

One Nepali national has died and two more were injured after an avalanche buried them near Annapurna Base Camp on Wednesday. Pokhara resident Sanjay Khanal, 18, has died, informed Gandaki Police. Meanwhile, two others were rescued and have been taken to Pokhara for treatment. Police say both are out of danger.

China influence in Nepal growing, says US

US diplomats are claiming that China’s influence in Nepal is growing. This statement comes following the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal.

Alice W Wells, Acting Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of South and Central Asia, addressing the US House Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Asia and the Pacific, said that Nepal, upon request from China, had increased restrictions on the Tibetan Buddhist community. She said that Tibetians in Nepal had also been prohibited from celebrating Dalai Lama’s birthday.

PM urges for timely completion of national pride projects

Prime Minister KP Oli has instructed the concerned ministers, secretaries, and chief of national pride projects to complete the construction of the projects on time. Prime Minister Oli directed all concerned authorities for the timely completion of the projects including Gautam Buddha International Airport, Pokhara Sub-Regional International Airport, and the Postal Highway. Likewise, PM Oli also inquired about the progress of hydropower and irrigation projects.

Biplav cadres beat up NCP cadres in Jajarkot

Cadres of the Biplav-led party assaulted cadres of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) at Barekot rural municipality of Jajarkot district. Biplav cadres attacked NCP local leaders, including Niraj Acharya, Dambar Bahadur Singh, Bishal Basnet, among others in the district.

According to Superintendent of Police Shyam Bahadur Khatri, Biplav cadres had issued a stern warning that they would not allow ruling NCP cadres to enter the Barekot area.
