Medical education activist Dr KC postpones strike

Dr Govinda KC

Kathmandu, October 25

Medical education reform and activist Govinda KC has postponed his protest until November 4.

KC, on October 14, had given the government an October 25 deadline to address his demands. He had said that if his demands were not met by then, he would start seventeenth hunger strike from October 30.

However, KC, five days prior to the strike date has postponed the strike for five days.

KC says that he has postponed his strike due to the Tihar festival.

KC has demanded that the government put on hold current preparations to appoint officials of the Tribhuvan University and other universities and start the process afresh as per recommendations made by a committee led by Parashar Koirala. Dr KC has argued that the process should be impartial and transparent.

KC on October 14, retired from his post of professor and doctor at Tribhuvan University’s Teaching Hospital.
