Kathmandu, October 31

Former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who has been charged of sexual misconduct by a Parliament Secretariat staffer, has once again not cooperated with the investigation process.

Police say that Mahara’s DNA test hasn’t been done as he has refused to give his blood samples. Police were preparing for Mahara’s DNA test to confirm that if the broken glasses and insole of shoes collected from the incident site belonged to him.

Police have already confirmed Mahara’s presence in the victim’s rented room from the CCTV footage. Now, the investigators will try to find out evidence of the attack with the DNA test.

The court, upon request from the police, had asked Mahara to submit his blood samples. However, Mahara has not obeyed the court’s order. The police have submitted a file stating his reluctance to the District Attorney’s Office.

Similarly, Mahara has also refused to give a polygraph test. Police say that Mahara said he wasn’t in the state to take the test as he was ill.

According to the law, the accused has to give permission for his/her polygraph test to be taken.

An officer also told Onlinekhabar that Mahara has refused to hand over his mobile phone also. Then, the police also asked Mahara’s son for his phone. However, the police’s request was denied.
