Four-year-old kid killed as Deepawali lamp ignites fire at Morang house

Biratnagar, October 28

A four-year-old child died when his house caught fire in Kothebari, Pathari Shanischare municipality of Morang district in eastern Nepal on Sunday night.

Yusan, the son of the house owner Yubaraj Giri, was asleep when the house caught fire at around 10:30 pm yesterday. He died on the spot.

The house roofed with zinc sheets was completely destroyed in the accident. Likewise, Rs 95,000 in cash, three told gold jewellery, three tola silver jewellery and clothes were reduced to ashes.

The District Police Office informs that a lamp prepared for the Deepawali celebration had ignited the fire. It was contained by a team deployed from the Kushechauri police post and locals at around 11 pm.

Police have appealed to the public to stay alert against such accidents while celebrating the festival.
