Daylight theft at lawmaker’s apartment in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, November 1

A group of thieves attacked an apartment of a House of Representatives member on Wednesday afternoon. Lawmaker Rajendra Gautam, who represents Sankhuwasabha district to the Lower House, has reported that the thieves stole various valuables from his rented residence two days ago.

Gautam, a central committee member of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, resides in front of the National Information Commission central office in Devi Nagar, Baneshwar, KMC-10. The thieves stole 2.5 tola gold ornaments, a silver plate and Rs 105,000 cash after breaking the padlock, according to him.

Gautam says he was in Singhadarbar when his wife was at her office when the incident happened.

Local police say further investigation is underway. However, they have not arrested anyone yet.
