Construction works for Nepal’s second longest bridge in Dang district of western Nepal have been over. It has been claimed that the works have been finished four months ahead of the deadline.

The bridge over Rapti river connecting Chhotki Sishaniyan and Mahadewa is 860 metre long and 10 metre wide. The bridge over Karnali river in Kothiyaghat of Bardiya district, which is 1 km and 15 metre long, is considered the longest bridge of Nepal.

ANK Lumbini YP JV, the contractor of the bridge, informs that the construction works have been over after around three years of laying the foundation stone. It will be inaugurated in January-February next year, according to the project chief Sunil Babu Panta. The same company had constructed the longest bridge and received an honour from the government for completing it ahead of the deadline.

The government has spent around Rs 1 billion to construct the Rapti bridge.

After the bridge comes into operation, it will take just 15 minutes to travel between the two places. It takes around one and a half hours now.
