New ‘Dashain notes’ to be distributed from September 27 to October 4

Like in the past years, Nepal’s central bank is exchanging new banknotes for old ones for use during the Dashain festival. The bank says the distribution will begin on September 27 and will go on until October 4.

According to the central bank, people can exchange notes from seven different branches of Nepal Bank Limited in the Kathmandu Valley. Those are: Maharajgunj, Jorpati, Patan, Lazimpat and Bhaktapur.

Similarly, one can also exchange notes from Teku, New Baneshwor, Sano Thimi, Bishal Bazar, Naxal, Balaju, Lubhu and Thoka branches of Nepal Banijya Bank.

As for Agriculture Development Banks, people can exchange note in six of its branches. The branches are Gaushala, Gathhaghar, Ram Shah Path, Ratnapark, Thankot and Pulchowk.

Meanwhile, the central bank has urged members of the public not to scribble on the notes or make them dirty. Those doing so are liable of punishment as per existing laws, according to the bank.

NRB will also be exchanging notes outside the valley. People can exchange new banknotes from NRB’s branches in Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Pokhara, Siddharthanagar, Nepalgunj and Dhangadi.
