Sexagenarian dies of heart attack minutes after cabbie removes him from vehicle

Kathmandu, March 29

A 60-year-old man has died after he was taken out of a taxi after he suffered a heart attack on Wednesday in Bouddha of Kathmandu.

Gopal Ranjit boarded taxi numbered Ba 1 Ja 3859, but soon found himself on the floor after taxi driver Kamal Bahadur Shrestha removed him from his taxi and left him to die on the road. Ranjit was later taken to Helping Hands Hospital by police, but was declared dead by the doctors.

The police after receiving a complaint from the victim’s family have arrested Shrestha. They have done so after going through CCTV footage. The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the driver dragging the patient out of the taxi.

 

Shrestha told police that he panicked and removed Ranjit from his taxi after the latter suffered a heart attack.

Police say that Shrestha will be prosecuted as per the law.
