Solukhumbu District Court has ordered the release four people serving sentence for cow slaughter.

Judge Narayan Prasad Subedi ordered that Dawakaji Shrestha of then Chaurikharka VDC-8, Kulung Rai and Raja Prasad Rai of then Bung VDC and Hemant Rai of Nechasalyan Rural Municipality-2 of Solukhumbu district after the trio filed an application.

They were serving a 12-year sentence but were released in response to a writ filed demanding the commuting of the sentence based on the new civil code, which reduces the quantum of punishment to three years, according to court clerk Bhagiswar Saraili.
