Kathmandu, July 10
Police have arrested three persons on the charge of betting over ongoing FIFA World Cup matches, from Kathmandu recently.
Those arrested are Mukhiya Lama (42), Subash Gurung (24) and Mukhiya Gurung (33) of Nisang Rural Municipality-7 in Manang district.
A team deployed from the Durbarmarg Metropolitan Police Circle arrested the trio along with Rs 400,000 from their possession.
They were arrested from Jyatha in the Capital with the money, informed police.
A public office case has been registered against them.
Police are looking into the case.
Betting is considered a form of gambling, and hence is a crime as per Nepali laws.
