Kathmandu, July 8

Telecommunication and internet service fees will increase from July 17, the first day of new fiscal year, as the government has imposed more taxes on the internet service while increasing the telecommunication fees.

Private mobile service provider company, Ncell Pvt Ltd, has said that it will adjust the telecommunications and internet fees from July 7.

Similarly, Nepal Telecom spokesperson Pratibha Baidya has said that that company will make the changes from the same date.

The new fees will be adjusted as per the price increased by the government.

The government has increased the telephone charge to 13 per cent while imposing the same for internet service. Now onwards, all services will have value added tax applied on it.

According to founder of an internet service provider Subisu, Sudheer Parajuli, the price of his company’s internet service will increase by 14.3 per cent.

The increased fees will be collected from the service seekers as the company is not ready to take the burden as suggested by the government, he says.
