Israel provides specially designed wheelchairs to Nepali children

Kathmandu, July 17

The Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu along with Lions Club of Kathmandu District 325-A2 and Karuna Foundation provided 40 wheelchairs to differently abled children today.

The Embassy says it has used the budget allocated for its Independence Day celebration and collaborated with Nepali organisations to help the children with disabilities.

Specially designed for children, 40 ‘Wheelchairs of Hope’ were distributed to the children by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali at a function in Kathmandu today.

Addressing the gathering, Gyawali said, “As a father of a differently abled child, I feel honoured to be handing out the children with these specially made wheelchairs. I want to thank the Embassy of Israel and all who have made this possible. This will surely help in the rehabilitation of the children and bring new hope and aspiration for them.”

Speaking at the function, Benny Omer, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, expressed his satisfaction for the Embassy’s contribution to this humanitarian cause and hoped that these children would benefit for the specially designed, light and comfortable wheelchairs for the freedom of their movement and expressed his commitment for more of such activities in the future.

The Embassy hopes that it is able to contribute to such social causes in the future as well to support needy people and make their life comfortable.
